Ing. Jan Tůma, TeachMeATPL Founder

  • Graduated from the Faculty of Transportation Sciences, programmes Operations and Management of Air Transport and Professional pilot, and next from the Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies – programme Specialization in Pedagogy, Technical Teacher Education (didactics), and is a holder of the International Engineering Educator accreditation
  • Works as a B737NG/MAX Captain in Smartwings Airlines, spent two years in the business aviation on Phenom 300, used to fly the A320 for a while and before that he had been working as a Product Development Manager and a Sales Representative in the Czech Aviation Training Centre, where he eventually spent almost 10 years as an aviation instructor (TKI, TRI, CRMT) and English language instructor
  • Has been teaching for almost 20 years, having begun long time ago in student’s age as a German, English, Spanish, Latin, Mathematics and Physics teacher
  • Works also as a B737NG/MAX Type Rating Instructor (TRI), CRM Trainer, MCC and Teaching&Learning instructor in Smartwings ATO and also as a PPL Theoretical Knowledge Instructor and ICAO English examiner in SkyOffice, where he spends a lot of his free time on sightseeing flights
  • Works as a teacher for the Transportation High School in Prague to significantly reduce the number of lazy, deceitful and not very well behaving students of the last grade, trying hard to educate them in practical use of the most important basics of the aviation theory; at the times of Covid-19 pandemics he worked here as a mathematics teacher
  • Does not have much time for sport, but he loves yachting (since he is a holder of the International Certificate of Competence Yacht Master, cat.C), walking in the nature, sometimes you may see him jumping into the swimming pool
  • In his free time, he loves the self-education at pedagogy, classical music of the best composers such as Ennio Morricone, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Danny Elfman, John Barry etc., musical composers such as Andrew Lloyd Webber or Claude-Michel Schönberg, and also European and American pop music of the seventies and eighties
  • He loves dogs and anything sweet (guilty pleasure), etymology, Czech and foreign cinematography (especially cynical, black and politically incorrect humour of Quentin Tarrantino and his fellow directors) and finally the Prague Lesser Town where his line has been living for more than two centuries
  • Since 2020 has been happily married with a perfect wife that gave him two beautiful daughters and he also has a perfect brother, pretty well known coach, psychologist and a psychotherapist (www.madeinczechoslovakia.cz)
